US Airways Group, Inc. announced on Thursday reports that the lawmakers sent a joint letter to CEO Douglas Parker raising “serious concerns” about the airline’s plan to close the base, which employs 143 pilots and 182 flight attendants, in May. Massachusetts’ congressional delegation is urging US Airways to reverse course and keep its crew base in Boston.

“We are concerned that the closure will displace many employees and will harm the New England economy in these perilous economic times,” the letter states.

The company stocks 0.23 (6.97%) to $3.53 on volume of 9,547,426 shares, average daily volume of 11,564,800 in morning session.
